Coastal Management Plan Assistance Program 2016/17 – APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

The Coastal Management Plan Assistance Program (CMPAP) grants are provided by the Western Australian Planning Commission and administered by the Department of Planning to implement State Planning Policy 2.6 – State Coastal Planning Policy (SPP2.6). The grants support coastal land managers to develop strategies and management plans for coastal areas that are, or are predicted to become, under pressure from a range of challenges.

The 2016/17 CMPAP grants round is currently open for applications and will close 12pm (midday) Friday 1 April 2016. Applications are invited for up to $50,000 per project. Information on how to apply including the 2016/17 CMPAP Guidelines and Application form can be found on the links below.

Funding is available for:

  • Coastal local government authorities
  • Aboriginal corporations / land councils with responsibilities for coastal land management 
  • Coastal NRM organisations in partnership with (1) and/or (2) above. 

The Coastal Management Plan Assistance Program will fund development of:

  • A coastal strategy
  • A coastal management plan
  • A coastal hazard risk management and adaptation plan. 

The Guidelines for applicants outline:

  • the types of projects that may be funded; 
  • the criteria that applicants must meet to be eligible for funding; and 
  • how to complete and submit an application. 

Applications are encouraged from land managers that propose to implement the “outstanding planning tasks” identified in the Status of Coastal Planning in WA report (WAPC, December 2012).
