The workshop, in May 2000, explored options to revitalise this town centre, located some 26 kilometres to the south-east of Perth at the foothills of the Darling Ranges, to encourage a higher level of investment, infrastructure, facilities etc.
Outcomes included economic development and employment creation initiatives, traffic and parking improvements including reopening the Jull Street mall, relocating the railway station and rationalising the railway reserve, and options for development of industrial and residential areas nearby to support the town centre.
The state government is currently establishing the Armadale Redevelopment Authority to assist with the revitalisation of Armadale, based on the enquiry-by-design findings.
