A forthcoming workshop will give Ashfield residents, businesses and other interested stakeholders the opportunity to review options for revitalising the area surrounding the Ashfield train station.
WAPC Chairman Jeremy Dawkins said the workshop will present options for land use, transport, access and urban design concepts for Ashfield’s proposed activity centre.
"It will also provide a forum to test these concepts against best practice urban design principles through debate," Mr Dawkins said.
“With its prime link to the airport, existing train station and with land at a premium in the metropolitan area, Ashfield is ideally placed to capitalise on its location and available land for more intensive land use in proximity to the station.”
The workshop comprises two review sessions - Tuesday 17 June from 3.30 - 4.30pm and Friday 20 June from 12.30 - 2.30pm at the Ashfield Soccer Club Hall, Coulston Road (cnr Haig St), Ashfield.
Design options developed at the workshop will be presented at the review sessions and enable community feedback.
Members of the community can register for the workshop review sessions by telephoning the Department for Planning and Infrastructure on 9264 7849 by Thursday 12 June.
Planning for an activity centre at Ashfield is being investigated as part of the Maylands-Guildford project. Activity centres are a key element of the State Government’s Network City urban planning framework. They are precincts offering a dynamic mix of housing, retail, services, education and leisure components, linked by activity corridors serviced by high-frequency public transport.
