The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) has approved an application for a temporary asphalt plant, project office, and crush rock and pugmill processing area for the new Perth Bunbury Highway.
WAPC Chairman Eric Lumsden said the WAPC granted the Southern Gateway Alliance temporary approval for a 12 month period.
"The WAPC determined the development will not adversely impact on the parks and recreation reservation and also considered the need to co-locate the development next to the area where the works are to be constructed”, Mr Lumsden said.
“A condition of approval is that at the end of the 12 month period, or sooner should development be completed, all improvements are to be removed and the site stabilised and planted with native vegetation.
"The approval also restricts the plant to operating between 7 am and 7 pm Monday to Saturday and not at all on Sunday or public holidays.
“The WAPC was guided by the advice of the Department of Environment and Conservation that any emissions that could be associated with the activity will be controlled by the Department of Environment and Conservation 's works approval.”
