The Stirling Alliance is soon to host precinct planning workshops designed to engage the community in the planning and development of a new sustainable city.

WAPC Chairman Gary Prattley said development of the Stirling City Centre would see a vibrant inner city lifestyle, with a focus on people, not cars, exciting built form with a main street core, accessible public transport and diverse housing choices.

“The city will also see highly self-sufficient energy and water sources, a comprehensive range of social services, and diverse retail and commercial opportunities.”

City of Stirling Mayor Cr David Boothman encourages everyone to come along to the interactive planning forums, aimed at engaging with community, business, state government and the City of Stirling, in planning for the Stirling City Centre and its current and future residents.

“The Stirling City Centre is set to be one of the largest projects of its kind in Western Australian history, anticipated to attract approximately $16 billion in investment into the area over the next 10 to 15 years, set to provide an estimated 30,000 jobs in local employment and homes for approximately 25,000 people,” Mayor Boothman said.

The following landmarks are included in the project area:

  • Stirling bus station interchange
  • Westfield Innaloo Shopping Centre
  • Grand Cinema Complex
  • Osborne Park Hospital
  • Hertha Road landfill site
  • Stirling Civic precinct
  • portion of Osborne Park industrial area; and
  • part of Innaloo and Stirling residential areas

The community is encouraged to become part of this innovative project and join with other like minded citizens in creating the future city of your choice.

The Festival of Ideas will focus on detailed aspects of each precinct within the Stirling City Centre study area and the public realm.

The outcomes of the festival will form part of the final structure plan, which will be released for comment later in the year.
The structure plan will guide the future development of the area, ensuring that the community’s aspirations and needs are catered for now and into the future.
