A draft structure plan for a future industrial centre in the Shire of Chittering has been released for public comment by the WAPC.
The Muchea employment node is a strategic area located at the intersection of Brand and Great Northern highways that has been identified for a range of service-based industrial and commercial uses, such as transport, livestock, fabrication, warehousing and wholesaling.
WAPC Chairman Gary Prattley said the structure plan, which comprised 1113 hectares of land provided background and context for potential long-term land uses.
“The structure plan will help to identify prospective industries and projects, and provides guidelines for environmental management and infrastructure requirements for industrial development over the next 20 years,” said Mr Prattley.
“The employment node will provide a concentration of employment opportunities for people living in and around the Chittering and Swan valleys. It will also be advantageous for businesses involved in transporting large equipment and other goods to locations in the Mid-West and North-West regions due to the good location of major transport infrastructure.
“It is strategically located and includes access to:
- the future Perth-Darwin national highway;
- the Brand and Great Northern highways;
- Neerabup industrial area;
- north-west corridor;
- the regional freight network;
- agricultural areas; and
- a sustainable employment base.
“The community and other state agencies are encouraged to take an interest in the structure plan by entering a submission.”
The Muchea employment node structure plan is available for public comment from 2 November 2009 to 11 January 2010.
