The draft strategy focuses on water quality management in the catchment of the Helena Pumpback Dam and a reduction in nutrient, contaminant and sediment export into the Helena and Swan Rivers.

The strategy aims to provide a framework for sustainable and integrated land use and water management in the Middle Helena Catchment Area by integrating land use planning, catchment management and public water source protection processes.

The draft strategy was released for public comment from August 2003 to January 2004. The public submission period has closed.
