Specialist Member Nominations 2017-2020
The Minister for Planning invites suitably qualified people to apply for specialist membership on Development Assessment Panels. The term of appointment is for a period of three years. Appointment of the current Development Assessment Panel specialist members expire in April 2017. As a key component of planning reform in Western Australia, Development Assessment Panels enhance planning expertise in decision-making by improving the balance between technical advice and local knowledge. Specialist and local government members work together to determine complex development applications that meet certain class and value thresholds. Successful applicants may be eligible to be paid a sitting fee of $425 per meeting for a specialist panel member and $700 per meeting for a presiding member in determination of new applications. Applicants must have a tertiary qualification or substantial experience in one or more of the following areas: town planning, architecture, urban design, engineering, landscape design, environment, law and/or property development or management.
