A collection notice explains how we collect, use, store and share personal information for a particular service, function or activity.
When we request you to share personal information, we will provide a collection notice which outlines:

- how the information will be used
- who the information may be shared with
- whether providing the information is required for us to deliver a service, function or activity
- the consequences of not providing the information (where applicable).
Providing your personal information is voluntary. However, if required information is not supplied, we may not be able to respond to an enquiry, process an application or provide services.

The Department takes reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss and from unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure. We also ensure your information is stored, retained and disposed of in accordance with the State Records Act 2000.
